March of the Penguins

Since I was on the committee for planning the ward trunk-or-treat, Halloween has been on my mind for a while. About a month ago, when I realized I would need to dress up, I searched craigslist to see if there was any costumes. When I saw a listing for two adult and one toddler penguin suit, I figured it was meant to be!

There is nothing I love more than little babies in Halloween costumes. Brady was in Halloween heaven this year. He loved the process of taking candy and putting it in his bucket (although I don't think he had any idea it what it was). There was Halloween festivities nearly everyday the week leading up to Halloween. We had the trunk-or-treat, a couple different parties, afternoon trick-or-treating downtown,  and Halloween night we took him to a few neighbors we know. `

Cycling for a Cure

Our good friends Annie (Lowe) & Scott Green's son Nate was recently diagnosed with SMARD (Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress Type 1). It is life-threatening disease that is caused by a gene mutation. It also causes weak muscles and severe respiratory problems. Nate is bright and happy, but has no use of his legs which makes it very difficult to explore the world.

Nate needs a power wheelchair and wheelchair accessible van to help him leave the house. To help we organized a 40 mile bike ride to raise funds for Nate and SMARD research. The generosity and support from friends, neighbors, and complete strangers was overwhelming!

Pumpkin Patch

We went with the Picketts to a pumpkin patch nearby. Brady was in heaven. He rolled in hay, picked out a pumpkin (with my help), road the train, and bounced in the jump house. It was adorable.

Houdini

Don't be fooled by that innocent face. This little man learned how to unzip his sleep sack, climb out of his crib, and take off his diapers all in one day. I'm really not ready for duck taping diapers and surprise visits in the middle of the night.

Labor Day

At 7:30pm on Friday night we decided to drive down to San Diego for Labor Day weekend. We were able to trade our timeshare for a place in San Diego and since we were free we figured, why not. We quickly packed our bags and put Brady to bed in his car seat. Christian had to go back to work on Monday night, but I stayed all week. My parents came down for part of it, my girlfriend Jenna stayed for a day, and we spent literally every moment Brady was awake at the pool. It was such a nice surprise vacation!
This is right before he dumped the entire bottle of chocolate milk on the seat and we had to wait for the crew to bring new seats onboard.

Tahoe

We grew up with the Bertrand family, but they moved before I graduated from high school. Although my parents had stayed in touch, it had been over 10 years since we'd all been together. They invited us all up to their beautiful cabin in Tahoe for the weekend. We swam, biked, golfed, and were able to catch up all weekend!

Away

I went on a girls trip (Bradyless). It was fabulous...room service, sleeping in, late dinners, girl talk...I loved every minute. I'm not even quite sure where these pictures came from, but it's all I have.

lake trip

We rented a lake house for 5 nights with a couple other families at Lake Tulloch. It was only 2 hours away, the water was 78 degrees, and Christian & Brady were on their dream vacation! On our drive up I asked Christian to be careful because I really didn't want to end our trip in the ER. It is a minor miracle we we made it home safely.
