My water boys

Christian, Matt Bauman, Chris Shelton and Brett & Owen Taylor
I'm not talking about the Adam Sandler kind of water boy, but instead referring to how I can't keep Christian and Brady out of the water. On Saturday it was a sweltering 90 degrees so we headed to the beach with about six other families. It was by far the nicest beach day I've ever experienced in the bay area. Christian was totally in his element helping friends learn how to surf and the cold water didn't keep Brady out either. He would crawl full throttle at the water and even after getting completely soaked he wanted more. I was just telling a friend (sarcastically, of course) that Christian has a paper chain counting down the days until he can take Brady surfing!

9 months

I can't believe Brady's next Dr. appointment will be his 1 year check-up! We changed pediatricians and since the new Dr. is right next to Christian's office he joined me for the visit. As luck would have it, this was the only appointment Brady didn't need shots, but the extra set of hands at least allowed me to snap a few photos. He is growing up faster than I would like sometimes, but I love his curiosity and watching his personality develop! He is 97th percentile for height and 48th for weight. After looking at his growth the Dr. said, "that's why he looks so thin".  I almost started laughing because that's probably the last word I would use to describe Brady. However, I'm definitely going to miss all those rolls when he does "thin" out!

Double duty

This handsome lad let me continue vacationing in LA for another 4 days while he went back to work. There was a part of me that was thinking, "oh this might be good because he'll realize how much I do around the house while I'm gone". However, when I got home he had steam cleaned our carpets, replaced the drain in one of the bathrooms that was having problems, fixed my break light (that had been broken for months), washed my car, done all the laundry, gone grocery shopping, and had the home spotless when I walked in. My plan completely turned on me, but I feel pretty good about it.

Newport

We just got back from a Hansen family vacation down in Newport Beach. It was so great to have nothing to do for a whole week! Between spending all day in the water and the non-stop attention from his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins Brady was in baby heaven! The week was full of yummy food, beaches, swimming, bike rides, and more. My personal highlight was being able to lay by the pool in complete silence while Brady slept because the monitor worked by the pool! It was seriously amazing!

Auntie Hannah!

The whole gang on a walk around Balboa Island!

Brady would ride around on Christian's back, grinning ear to ear, as long as we'd let him!

It was all I could do to keep his face out of the sand.
Love every bit of those chipmunk cheeks!
Pool time with Auntie Heather
Morning run with mom. He clearly wasn't enjoying it quite as much as me!

Easter Weekend

We were heading down to Southern California for a family reunion with the Hansen's last week and since we weren't checking in until Sunday we went a couple days early and spent Easter weekend with my family. The weather was perfect so we spent tons of time at the beach! On Saturday I went kayaking with my mom. The water was perfectly calm, but somehow we were both a bit nauseous by the end. Our favorite part was definitely all the sea lions swimming alongside us. We then picked up the boys to go to the beach and check out a surf festival going on in Hermosa. On Easter morning my Grandpa and Grandma McNay came over for a yummy brunch. We then headed down to the beach for walk before heading down to Newport.
Dolphin sighting!
Brady's favorite part of his Easter basket.
At a surf competition in Hermosa. Brady won a hat.
First time in the ocean! Although I've taken B to the beach a ton, I'd never taken him in the water. He liked it touching his feet, but once the water came to his knees he was ready to be done.

Brady Time

Every week I get an automated email from Heather's calendar on when "Brady Time" will be. Heather watches him most Friday nights and often times other days during the week as well. They go for walks, trips to Starbucks, and like to play dress-up with Auntie paraphernalia. I usually get these photo updates on what they are up to. I'm not sure who likes Brady Time more...Christian & I or Brady!!

one of these does not look like the other one...

Our friends, Joe & Meg Field, are breeders for Canine Companion. Their dog just had her first litter so I took Brady over to see the pups. His reaction was a mixture of intrigue and excitement, but it soon turned to boredom. Hopefully that means he won't be asking for a puppy anytime soon!
