Room 401

I live in a hotel, actually, I live in Rm. 401. I've been staying at the Westin in Providence, RI for 6 weeks now and just when I thought I'd be going back to NY, I got assigned to work here for one more week. Not only have I been staying at the same hotel, I've been in the same room. It's one of their two "work-out" rooms, which come complete with a treadmill, weights, etc. Not bad, huh? I've reached Platinum Starwood member status, the front desk doesn't ask for an ID anymore, and every valet guy knows me by name. I think I can claim residency now though since I have received mail here, multiple times, (thanks Christian). Normal??? Thank goodness for the "Heavenly Bed"!

Here Come the Brides!

Sometimes something that looks ugly on a hanger becomes your most prized article of clothing...and sometimes it just looks worse on. Yesterday, we found the latter to be true. We went to Saks because they were having a bridal sample sale. Upon arriving, we quickly realized why they were selling Vera Wang dresses for 70% off. The gowns were covered in tulle, black beads, green ribbon, etc...not to mention the missing buttons and broken zippers. While I obviously didn't find the gown of my dreams we occupied one very small dressing, for quite some time, and took pictures modeling some of the most hideous dresses you can imagine.

Deck the Halls!

Jenna... I know you were a little disappointed that we didn't join the thousands of tourists for the annual Rockefeller tree lighting so we had a little tree lighting of our own. On my way home from Providence this weekend I searched for a x-mas tree lot, but with no success I settled for a big, fake, (and cheap) tree from Target. I dragged it down Wall St, up the elevator, and nestled it in a little corner of our home! The "tree lighting" was last night...now we just need some presents (instead of magazines) under the tree!

Nasty 8

After traveling all the way up to the UWS it only seemed appropriate to revisit the infamous "tasty/nasty/only 8" for some peanut butter frozen yogurt. It may have been 20 degrees outside and I didn't remember exactly where it was (sorry Christian), but we walked up and down 72nd St until we found it! Nasty 8 never tasted so good. The only thing missing was Missy and Meg:(

It's Official!!!

Christian completely surprised me this weekend with a little gift that came in a small wooden box! After a disastrous night which included missing our dinner reservations because of subway problems and missing our broadway show because I wrote down the wrong date...Christian "popped the question" under the Rockefeller Tree. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turkey Day in the City!

Christian came into town for the holiday! We celebrated in true NYC tourist style...starting with the Macy's Day parade and finishing with the Rockettes!

Even though we were across the country from our own families, we were still able to celebrate the holiday with lots of friends (basically family) and a table full of DELICIOUS food. We joined Rachael and her family for dinner at Park Avenue Autumn and dined on the best food I've had in a very, very long time.

Party Like It's 1999!

Bruso turns the big 24 today, but fortunately we celebrated this past weekend because I'm now working in the lovely city of Pawtucket, RI.

Bruso received all the standard "24 year old female-living in NYC" gifts: Salsa, In-line skates, and a sugar-free b-day cake!

We all attended a Salsa class in Soho. I think Mo (Rach's bro. who was visiting from upstate NY) was the only one who could actually move his hips.

The day continued with dinner at Mercer Kitchen. The highlight of the night was definitely a cake Rach special ordered from Baby Cakes on the East side. I'm still not quite sure what it's made out of, since it's like sugar-free, gluten-free, etc, but it was AMAZING and believe it or not puts Magnolia cupcakes to shame!!!BB

Another celebrity?

Since being in NY I've had multiple people tell that watching NY Marathon is a must do. Who knew watching people run could actually be exciting? Despite the long train ride, I decided to heed to their advice. It truly was unbelievable/slightly depressing. Everyone I saw was at least 20 years older than me and finishing under 3hrs. As I stood there eating the free Dunkin Donuts and watching people run I saw Lance Armstrong and some serious British pride cross the finish line!

Run Forrest Run

OK, so this picture isn't me...just in case you couldn't tell, but I did run a half-marathon this morning in Central Park. It was a Norwegian Festival and the run was called Grete’s Great Gallop. I decided around 10pm last night to run, which was not the brightest idea since I hadn't trained at all. Eating a Norwegian waffle covered in jam right before the race probably wasn't a great idea either...I have a really hard time turning down free food in this city:) I survived though, barely.

Finally!!!

Christian finally came to visit this weekend. We had a weekend full of shows, picnics, and even a little Tango lesson in Central Park. Oh, and I can't forget dancing with the famous central park roller skaters and getting nearly 30 free packs of Mentos from people on the street!!

Back to P-town

I went to Utah last week for a recruiting event at BYU. I was only there for 24 hrs. so I had two very important things to do: 1. Get frozen yogurt from Maverick and 2. a salad from Cafe Rio. While I nearly made myself sick from frozen yogurt, I didn't budget enough time for Rio. I tried to go on the way to the airport, but after walking in, looking at the line, and strongly considering missing my flight for Rio, I had to settle for a purse full of their mints and driving back to the airport hungry:(

Sightings...call Perez!

This week, in a period of 24 hours, I had 3 (well more like 2 1/2) celebrity sightings:
1. Usher and his wife-coming out of Cipriani in Soho
2. Gemma Ward- also in Soho
3. Jim Turley- the CEO of my company (Ernst and Young)- we rode in the elevator together...he's the .5 celebrity, but since nobody outside of my company would know who he is I guess he doesn't even qualify as a .5

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Our friend Garrett, who we've known since high school, plays for the Baltimore Orioles. They were in town this last week playing the Yankees. He not only got us amazing seats, but after the game he came out from the locker room with baseball caps and baseballs signed by the whole team for each of us!! I'm still a Dodger fan at heart though:)

Home Sweet Home

I've been in the Big Apple for 2 weeks now. After dragging my 5 suitcases through JFK I eventually arrived at my new place on Wall Street. It's small...3 girls, 2 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom, but I love it. Sam (the doorman) is best friends with my roommates and has basically furnished our entire apartment with things old tenants left behind. It's finally starting to feel like home.

Here it goes...

After many months of looking, reading...you could even call it stalking people I didn't know through their blogs, I decided I needed to do something else to fill my time. Today my journey into the world of blogging begins. More importantly though, my move to NYC is quickly approaching and it only seems appropriate that I already be a well versed blogger before I arrive! Here it goes...
