Shopping in Style

As I mentioned earlier, Christian has been so excited to drive those motorized carts around the grocery store. So, despite being terribly sick from the anesthesia (and nearly vomiting on the 405), Christian insisted on going shopping with me. I was nearly crying because I was laughing so hard. I'm sure I got a couple dirty looks as I laughed and took pictures of my poor disabled husband!

Cruising Costco..I promise the poor sad face is just an act. The bare necessities! Perusing through the meat isle at Vons

Sponge Baths and Vicodin

All I had was my phone for pictures...
Renee helped us to the car.
Christian had to eat ice chips before he could leave and he kept
asking the nurse it they used Evian water to make the chips.

The white box is a catheter that pumps pain
medicine directly into his joint.

Christian's knee has been hurting since he fell while we were rollerblading in NY...or in-line skating as he likes to call it (as if that makes it more manly). He finally went to the Dr. and found out that he would need to undergo a small surgery to repair a meniscus tear. However, once the Dr. got inside his knee he found that Christian's ACL was also torn...which means the recovery changed from 6 weeks to more than 6 months. The only thing he's excited about is renting one of those motorized shopping carts at Costco:)

Make that a Triple!

The inevitable line...
but worth the wait!
More satisfied customers!

You'd think that since BOTH of us worked at Baskin Robbins at one time we'd have had our fill of of their ice-cream. Obviously not...or at least not on .31 cent scoop night!

Got Time to Kill?

One Satisfied Shopper!

I picked Christian up after work last night because we had a meeting with the bishop. However, we had about an hour to kill before our appt. To fill our time we first went to the city council meeting across the street from his work...they were advertising free food:) It was hilarious... after waiting 20 min. for food Christian was dished up about a sample size cup of chili and I got a fistful of salad (you had to choose salad or chili). We met some of our neighbors though, all of which over the age of 65. We then headed over to the church, but were lured into a 99cent store on the way over! As if we needed anymore junk in our tiny little apartment.

Home Alone

The scenery makes it much easier to run! New episodes...finally! The simple joys in life:
Christian went to Tampa, FL this weekend for Mike Field's wedding! Sadly, I had to work so I did what any other lonely wife would do to kill the time. I baked & ate lots of cookies and cake, went on a long run (10miles) at the beach in an attempt to burn off the prior activity, went shopping with my mom in downtown MB, drank obscene amounts of diet coke, and most importantly watched all the new Hills episodes..thank you parents for your TiVo (especially since we don't even have cable)!

Flipper??

The picture I TRIED to get
The picture I GOT!

We actually saw three dolphins riding a wave like this...a much smaller wave obviously:)

It was nearly 90 degrees this weekend so we hit the beach. While we were walking around trying to find a place to sit...we looked out in the ocean and there were dolphins EVERYWHERE. We probably saw about 20 and they were only a few feet offshore. We easily could have swam out to them! I frantically found the camera and starting shooting pictures. Sadly, between my parent's crappy old camera that we were borrowing and my sub-par photography skills I didn't get any pictures of the dolphins. Oh well, hopefully there will be next time!

Abracadabra!

Irma- The Piano

We went to the Magic Castle in Hollywood last weekend! While it might not seem like a big deal...you actually have to be a member, which runs $625/year, or know a member. We definitely fell into the latter category. Christian's friend from work got us on "the list". Once inside you are free to explore all over the castle and there are tons of little rooms with magic shows and magicians from all over the world. I think one of the magicians had a crush on Christian! Not only did he call him upstage to be his assistant, but after the show he snuck us into this special show that we needed additional tickets to! One of the highlights of the night was Irma. It's a piano that can literally play anything. You just talk to her, tell her what you want to hear, and off she goes.

So you think you can dance?

After many requests, here's the link to see our first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Hansen...I promise there's only a couple seconds of the typical (some may call it boring) first dance stuff! Enjoy:)

Jaws V

Before we went to Hawaii we decided to go shark cage diving. Why...not really sure? Maybe a couple neurons snapped during all the wedding planning. Nevertheless, after letting out a sharp scream when I first looked in the water and saw the cage surrounded by sharks, I really enjoyed it. We were in the water for about 30min and the cage was surrounded by about 20 shark. The sharks also got a little show though. When I first got in, I must've been a little distracted because a few minutes into it, I looked down and saw that my swimsuit top came untied and I was completely flashing everyone...lovely! Christian, on the other hand, wasn't scared at all and even swam down to the bottom of the cage and touched one of the sharks.

Our honeymoon was everything, but long enough. I'm already back to work and suddenly the whole wedding planning thing seems really appealing. We had the best time in Hawaii. We traded our timeshare for a week at the Marriott Ko'olina on Oahu. One of the coolest things was that it was whale season, so you could actually sit on the beach and see whales breaching out of the water. We laid by the pool most of the week, but we did have a couple adventures while on the island. We spent one day on the North Shore. Christian surfed with his brother Doug at Sunset. I lasted for about 2 minutes and then sat on the beach and tried not to think about the enormous waves they were trying to surf. We then went shark diving and grabbed shaved ice in Haleiwa. We finished the day with an amazing meal Doug prepared and then went to the night show at the Polynesian Cultural Center!

The Countdown is OVER!!!

I'm now Mrs. Hansen and couldn't be happier. It's been a crazy last couple weeks. I thought I'd have more time for things like blogging before the wedding, but planning a wedding turned out to be a lot more work than I anticipated. It all went off without a hitch...or maybe there was one "hitch"! (corny joke provided by my grandpa).

I wish I had the photographer's photos, but I won't get the digital negatives for awhile. In the meantime, to see a slide show of the big day, you can go to:

Memories...

I'm working on the slideshow for the wedding and I think it may end up being my favorite part of all this planning (definitely beats stuffing envelopes and even shopping for shoes). Here's a couple of my favorite pics:

I love a man in uniform:)
Christian's favorite Halloween Costume...can you tell?

Last Hoorah!

It's hard to believe these pictures are almost a month old! Christian came out my last weekend in NY! It was another whirlwind trip, but the perfect way to end my adventure in NY. We saw two shows: Legally Blonde (which I was very skeptical of, but absolutely loved), and Mary Poppins. I think we may have been more impressed though by this subway performer!

Whey-Fu

Per discussion with Wei-Fu Tan, low-level EY staff, colleagues would like to be included in blogging activities. As such, I have included the attached picture as evidence of inclusion. (See W/P WF-T)
